Do you ever find that a day, a week or sometimes a month can slip by and you feel like you haven’t really progressed in your business? When you look back at the time you realize you were busy, but this “busyness” hasn’t yielded you any results?
If this has happened to you, you are not alone. We have all been there before. The trick however is to recognize it and then do something about it. When I first discovered this was happening to me, I let it go on for a little bit longer than I would like to admit (nobody’s perfect, right?!). Over time however, as I got more serious about my business, I knew that something had to change.
Here are two key meetings that helped me break the cycle of spending my days, ‘busy being busy’ and getting nothing done to being uber productive and getting more traction in my business which led to (and leads to) helping more people, making more money and making a bigger impact.

Not long ago, Dr. Laura Nurse would sit in her office for 8 hours and sometime see just one client, on a good day. As a new Naturopathic Doctor, she was doing everything she knew to market herself yet she just couldn’t figure out why people weren’t running in to see her.
What Laura didn’t realize at the time, was that she didn’t know the ‘business’ side of her business yet. She knew how to be a great Doctor, but was still unknown to the skills of how to be a great entrepreneur and marketer.
Laura and I met in April 2013 and we got to work. In just 15 months, Laura has achieved:
- Building her practice to full time capacity;
- Moving into Phase 2 of growth (hiring help and expanding);
- A fantastic reputation in her community as a leader in health for women;
- Creating a beautiful online brand and presence;
- Feeling personally happy and no longer stressed out over wondering where her next client is going to come from;
- Feeling confident in the business side of her business!

When I decided that I wanted to be a full time coach helping self-coaches grow their business so they can change the world with their gifts, I knew a few things had to change. Before that decision I was running my business more like it was a hobby than an actual business. In fact, some of the clients that I had were getting better results in their businesses than I was, because I wasn’t 100% committed yet!
This time however, enough was enough and I wanted real results that translated into making a great income and had me being 100% location-independent.

This month marks my 6th year as an entrepreneur (how did that happen?). Over the last 6 years I’ve had one business fail (big time), one that evened out and one that made it (it’s this one in case you were wondering).
According to many of the successful entrepreneurs I know, I’m right on track. All of them have had failures before they hit the jackpot. When I realized that it’s been 6 years since my first home based business, I couldn’t help but reflect on what I’ve learned over the years. It’s been so much. Deciding to venture out into the unknown land of entrepreneurship has been one of the best blessings of my life. It’s helped shape me in ways I didn’t know it would. I’ve learned about things I never knew existed (who knew what a split test was or shadow work?) and I’ve become a braver, bolder and smarter version of myself.
This week, I want to share with you 6 Big Marketing Lessons I’ve Learned In 6 Years Of Entrepreneurship. Marketing itself is a big topic but there are some fundamentals that will stand the test of time.

On Tuesday, I did a webinar (which you can still watch until this Sunday, July 20 by clicking here) about how to create a coaching business to fit your ideal lifestyle. It was awesome and the feedback was incredible.
Based on the feedback I received, there were a few things in particular that really stood out for some people in helping them fast track their journey to success. I wanted to take one of those concepts and expand on them in a blog post for you because I believe it is a big one that most coaches (actually most people in general), struggle with. I know for myself this was something that held me back until I learned to ease my way out of it.
