Last Tuesday, I did a webinar about how to create a coaching business to fit your ideal lifestyle. It was awesome and the feedback was incredible.
Based on the feedback I received, there were a few things in particular that really stood out for some people in helping them fast track their journey to success. I wanted to take one of those concepts and expand on them in a blog post for you because I believe it is a big one that most coaches (actually most people in general), struggle with. I know for myself this was something that held me back until I learned to ease my way out of it.
Do you ever find yourself in a position where you are wondering any of the following:
- How come I’m not there yet?
- Where’s the money?
- Where are my clients?
- She did it in 2 years and I’m in year 3 and not even close, what’s wrong with me?
If any of these sound vaguely familiar, then I can tell you without a shadow of doubt, this is one of the biggest reasons you are not yet where you want to be.
You’ve heard it before: what you focus on, expands. The more you focus on where you are (which in this case is where you are not), the more of that you get. This is what brings more obstacles your way. It is a form of self-sabotage.
The reason we tend to do it is because in our society we are trained to look at what is. And if you tell a story of what is becoming then people think you’re odd, especially when you speak as though it already is, which as we know is the key to manifestation. It’s why in one of Steve Job’s most famous quotes he says:
“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… The ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
I’m so in love with this quote because what it really comes down to is courage: courage to be who you really are. Who are you really? You are a magnificent creator who came here to dream and become, dream and become and dream and become.
We never get it done, yet for the big dreams (which business usually falls under), we seem to undercut ourselves. We make it more difficult than necessary and the biggest thing that gets in our way is our own self-talk about how we are not there yet.
When you decide that where you are is perfect, you open the door to the universe to unfold all that you desire. It is in the resentment, shame or guilt of where you currently are that holds you back from where you want to be.
The resistance that happens from being in negative emotion blocks out universal intelligence - your intuition - to bringing you the inspired action for you to take to move forward. You’re missing it.
The great thing about our universe is that it never gives up on you. It is always there, waiting for the moment for you to align with all that you are.
You can allow it by making peace with where you are. Everything is always working out for you. You are always in the right place at the right time and while contrasting situations will arise, the faster you can be excited for these ‘problem’s’, the faster you will move through them and grow more into who you really are.
So the fact that you don’t have the right amount of clients yet, the right amount of money, perhaps you want better this or that… don’t let your current circumstances slow you down. You just weren’t ready then and there is nothing wrong with that. When you decide that you are truly ready, everything will align.
It doesn’t mean you won't have more contrast, you will. But it will be contrast that will help you create a clearer picture of where you want to go and how to get there.
Don’t you think that is a genius design?
Me, too. You’re perfect just as you are. You’re in the right place and everything is working out for you. Stop comparing yourself to others and their journey’s. Your journey is your journey and the faster you get on board with that the faster you can speed up to what you have been desiring all along.
Remember, the joy is in the journey so relax and enjoy the view.
P.S. Has this happened to you? Have you slowed yourself down by focusing on where you are? Did you manage to speed yourself up by letting go? I’d love to hear your story in the comments below!
