Let’s face it, at some point in time you are going to get frustrated with your business. When that happens, it’s important to know how to deal with it because success loves speed and we don’t want to lose productivity due to emotional stress.
That being said, here are 5 things you can do to get out of frustration and overwhelm and back into flow.
1. Get Up & Leave Your Office
When you are frustrated, leave. Go outside or to another room, maybe take a walk, workout or meditate. Whatever it is for you, just go do something that gets you out of the environment where you are currently feeling frustrated. My number one recommendation is to get into nature as fast as you can. Mother Nature has a way of taking really good care of us and allowing our minds to clear. :)
2. Get Grateful
It’s really hard to be frustrated when you are grateful and in deep appreciation. In any moment we can always come back to the things that we are grateful for. Even when things are bad we can be grateful to be alive, have food to eat, family, friends and a roof over our heads. The simplest of life’s pleasures and securities are always within your reach to feel grateful for.
I love these lines from the song, Time of Our Lives by Pitfall & Ne-Yo:
This for anybody going through tough times
Believe me, been there, done that
But everyday above ground is a great day, remember that
Gratitude will help you start to feel better so that you can get back into alignment, get clear and make great decisions.
3. Use The Past To Your Advantage
Once you are beginning to feel good again (after getting outside and getting grateful), use the past to your advantage. Give yourself some much deserved credit. You and I both know that you have accomplished a lot to get to where you are right now. Often times we are so focused on where we are going we forget to celebrate how far we have come. It’s important to celebrate our wins though because it gives us confidence and courage to take more risks and to realize that YES we are capable.
4. Get Back To Your Why
Sometimes in the midst of frustration we forget about the big picture of why we are doing what we are doing. I know this has happened to me before.
When you forget about your why and the big picture it is easy to get caught up in the minutia of the day to day and to let problems get to us. Coming back to your why should excite you and allow to reignite inside of you the fire that will put of out the flames of your frustration.
5. Ask Better Questions
Often times when we are in overwhelm we start asking questions that are not helping us move forward. Questions such as:
- why does this happen to me?
- how am I going to get out of this?
- how am I going to pay the bills?
These are not good questions that are going to help you feel better and get excited about moving forward.
Some questions that will help you receive better answers to get excited and inspired again are:
- how can I serve more people?
- what’s another way to look at this situation?
- who can I call that has already been through this and therefore I can receive some great advice?
We all know that problems occur in business, it’s just a matter of getting in the energy of the solution not the problem that is going to help us move past said problem faster.
You mindset matters more than anything. When you are working from a state of lack, frustration, overwhelm or any other negative emotion you are not able to gain the advantage of working from flow. This means it is going to take you much longer to get the same output and leverage that you could get when you work from a state of happiness.
